Now I remember!

It's all rushing back to me now.

I remember all the reasons why I ever left blogger to begin with!  Why oh why did I move back here??   Please be patient with me as we transition over to...

Woohoo!!

New Projects

It's so funny how something happens and it motivates me to try something new.  Normally I get super excited about something and then I don't finish or complete whatever it was.  I won't even go into the list of things that I have quit in the past .. BUT I do have a few new things going on.

After I get my financial aid squared away, I should be starting classes to get my degree online.  I am nervous because this will be my third attempt.  I'm not really sure if I'm ready!  At the same time I feel really excited to start learning again.  I think my anxiety lies in my fear of failure.  Luckily I will only have one class at a time and it will only last for five weeks.  One reason I have chosen this particular school is based off of their class schedules.  I just need to stop freaking out and take a deep breath and take it one class at a time, right?  Come on people, back me up!

If you have read my previous posts, I plan to start the Body by Vi shakes soon.  It's time to get healthy with no excuses this time.  The only thing holding me back in changing my eating habits and my activity level is ME.  What's funny is that I am the one who is hurt the most by my weight!  Ok it's not funny so I'm going to fix it!

I also have a new announcement to make!  Tonight I was on my facebook (oh yeah, you know you spent some time on facebook tonight too!) and I happened to see a post from a friend about NaNoWriMo.  I don't have very many writey friends, unless they are closet writers and don't tell anyone!  But she has a sweet lil blog and I stalk her occasionally.  Anyways I guess finding this has confirmed something.  It wasn't that long ago (maybe a couple months now) that I told my husband that I really think I would like to write a book.  I don't know how ... so I don't even try!  The past few days while writing in my blog I have been having a blast.  I was just telling him how much I enjoy writing.  So that's when NaNoWriMo hits me.

So what is NaNoWriMo?  National Novel Writing Month.  Basically you just start writing on Nov 1 and by Nov 30 you have written a 50,000 word novel!  There are local writing parties and endless groups online to help support one another.  Not to mention they are raising money for a young writers program and Office of Letters and Light.

I have two days to get an idea of what I'm going to write about.  You really aren't supposed to start writing until Nov 1.  You can get an outline or character development going but other than that, you should start at the first of the month.  I figured why not?  What have I got to lose?  It sounds nerve racking and fun at the same time.

Does it sound crazy that I'm 25 and I just decided one day that it'd be nice to write a book?  Yeah it sounds crazy.  I have to start somewhere!

I will be keeping my blog up to date with all of my current endeavors.  If you have ever envisioned what it would be like to write a book, I would encourage you to try it too.

Working from Home

I am always on the lookout for work at home opportunities.  Beware!  There are so many scams out there!  Sometimes it's really hard to tell if the jobs are legitimate.  There is a pretty big market for virtual assistants.  Just try to keep in mind that many of these job boards want you to pay them before they give you access to even view the jobs that are available.  I can't confirm if these are legit ... but just think about it.  How many times have you gone out to get a job and you had to pay them first?  It would be best to assume if they ask for money up front, then something is up!!

There is a website called oDesk that I have been job hunting on today.  There are endless jobs to sift through.  It has all kinds of jobs!  Anything you can do with a computer and a phone can be done from home.  There is a wide variety of jobs available there.  The downfall is that by the time you find a job that you want to apply for ... you can see there are over a hundred people with their apps in already.  If someone really needs a VA (Virtual Assistant), I don't really see them having loads of extra time to sift through that many applications!  You can only have a certain amount of applications out at a time too, so you might not want to waste your time on one that you have no chance of getting.

I have also scoured through the WAHM (work at home mom) website and blog.  This website looks really messy to me.  I usually just get tired of the layout and the unprofessional look of it ... and it turns me away.  It's just another place to find opportunities.  Many of them are "Do you want to sleep all day, take luxury vacations, and get paid $50 grand per week?"  You know the ones!

LinkedIn is a pretty reliable jobs website.  But it's hard to filter through the regular jobs to find the work from home types.  Some good search terms to help are:
  • remote
  • work from home
  • telecommute
  • home based
  • virtual
SimplyHired actually has "telecommute" as one of the options to narrow down the search!  So you could type "customer service" and then narrow it down to telecommute jobs, for example.

If you live in the right areas you could actually make reservations for Hilton.

I really haven't had any success on finding a real paying job yet.  Even if I could make $50-100 per week, that would make such a big difference!  If I find something where I don't have to commute and the hours were part-time... that would be perfect!

**Please note: You should never assume any job from any website is legitimate without doing your research first!**

Bloglovin

I'm trying to figure out how to get Bloglovin set up.  I hope to gain more followers and fellow bloggers by using different blog networking sites.  This looks like pinterst for bloggers!  I'll let you know how it goes!

Too Broad?

I'm having a hard time narrowing my blog down to one topic.  I think I have had really personal blogs in the past and that really limited my audience.  Not everyone really wants to read about the dog poop in the floor this morning ... and I don't always want to write about it!  I was looking to join up on a website where other bloggers all unite, if you will.  They wanted me to pick a subject as in ... I can only have a blog that is about one particular topic.  I don't think that's what I want this blog to be.  I would prefer that I could just come here and write about anything that's on my mind.

Maybe my subject matter is unclear because I could write about anything.  This may result in never gaining a real following too.  Who knows?  I really enjoy writing.  I think I write the same way I would talk if you were here standing in front of me.  My punctuation isn't perfect ... and I'm not great with language rules.  I put way to many dot dot dots ... but it's really relaxing for me.  What do you think?  Should I try to take the blog into a certain direction?  Or are all of the posts being completely random ok?

On another note, I recently added a contact page to the blog.  You can send me a message and it will go straight to my inbox.  Feel free to utilize that if you don't feel comfortable leaving a comment for public view.  By the way, I've always kinda liked fairies!  (How's that for random!)

Pumpkin Carvings

While it's true I've never really carved my own pumpkin ... I thought I would share a couple of my favorites!  I tend to like the less intricate ones.  I like to see the ones that the average Joe can accomplish!

I really like his crazy teeth and giant eyes!

The one on the left has a smile on his face like he just did something that made the other pumpkin really mad!

I'm a sucker for a momma and baby picture of just about anything!

I've Tried Everything

I've been down the diet roller coaster too many times to count.  I have tried weight watchers, counting calories, simply watching what I eat, cutting carbs, and even the dreaded Nutrisystem.  I was always unsuccessful with those.  For the last couple of months I have managed to lose about ten pounds on my own.  I was tracking calories with a mobile app and walking/jogging a few times a week.

Tracking calories makes me obsess over food!  I want to figure out exactly what I'm going to eat and how to figure the calories.  Try cooking a real meal and then trying to figure out how many calories you put into that meal.  Not to mention trying to figure out how many calories were in your own serving, etc.  It just makes me feel trapped.  Like if I couldn't figure the calories then I might just eat a frozen dinner because that's pre-measured and calorie count was easy.  The only positive for me was that it does help to hold you accountable to what you're putting in your body.

As with any diet and exercise program you attempt, you will usually only get out of it what you put into it.  So if you are only half-heartedly doing it, then your results will likely show that.  (Unless you are a man, lol they just have it too easy!)  I'm not looking for an easy way out or some miracle diet that will shed the pounds with no effort on my part.

Body by Vi shakes are full of nutrients.  They will give you energy.  It is likely more nutrient rich than your current diet ... it's definitely better than my current meal plan!  Also you will be able to cut calories without obsessing over it.  You won't have to do much at all to maintain this diet.  Drink a shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch.  Then cook a sensible dinner like you normally would.

You will be losing because you are cutting calories and getting so many vitamins in your system at the same time.  These shakes are filling, so you shouldn't be hungry.  Pair that with drinking lots of water, as most of us walk around dehydrated most of the time anyways ... and you will do great!  No one said you can't have healthy snacks in between!  If you want to accelerate your results you could always throw some cardio or other workouts in there as well.

The main reason my diets fail are the fact that they feel like diets!  I'm eating too little ... not getting enough calories ... getting way too cranky and then breaking my diet!  I want an effortless way to alter my diet to lose the pounds and get healthy.  I need to lose about 50 pounds.  That is just to get to the top of the healthy range for my height.

Once I reach my goal I would like to maintain by just replacing breakfast with a shake and then having a sensible lunch and dinner.  And don't forget snacks and water!  I know that shakes can seem like a fad, but if they get me where I need to be ... then it will be well worth it!

By the way, this is just as much a pep talk for me as anyone else.  Hopefully I will be placing my first order this week and depending on how long it takes to get the mix ... I would like to start in a couple of weeks.  Just let me know if you are interested.  I would love to have some buddies go on the 90 day challenge with me!
